“Missing Piece” Chess Set by ZTRA

Releasing July 10, 2026 - “De’ Homies are still playing games” in our first product of this type, which has been researched, developed, designed, printed, and assembled in the ZTRA Studio.

The “Missing Piece” chess set plays on the idea of having an incomplete set of game pieces and having to mix and match pieces in order to play properly.

This chess set reimagines the game by deconstructing some of its principle rules. Featuring a glossy black chess board, with a single orange tile, this set removes all familiarity that someone may identify with chess, while contrasting that boldness with the playful colors of the pieces, inspired by the colors of such children’s games as ‘Mouse Trap’ and Scrabble. The contrasting colors of the king pieces are meant to be interchangeable and speak to the feeling of missing pieces to a chess set and having to use mismatched pieces.

The “Missing Piece” Chess Set includes a 10x10in chess board, one blue set of pieces, one red set of pieces, one yellow king, and one orange king. Chess pieces are printed using ABS, and vapor smoothed until they have a glossy finish, the chess board is fully painted and can be disassembled for easy storage.
